Launching Android applications in Ubuntu \ Debian \ Mint

263

Asphalt on the tablet slows down? I wanted to play Clash of Clans on the computer? There are no barriers, you have the same LINUX!)

AndroVM   is a project for launching Android in a virtual environment. It will require a simple registration. Free tariff on the Individual tab when choosing a tariff plan.

There is full support for Google Play, networks, SD cards, etc. The latest AndroVM builds simulates Jelly Bean, the latest versions of AndroVM come with Hardware OpenGL and ARM support.

It will take Oracle’s VirtualBox. Installation:

sudo apt-get install vbox

Initially, AndroVM uses the VirtualBox VGA driver, the Hardware OpenGL mode uses a separate “AndroVM player” driver to display.

The amount of performance when using the Hardware OpenGL mode is excellent, the response of the user interface is significantly increased.

Below is the installation guide for AndroVM on Ubuntu \ Debian \ Mint. Download both VirtualBox OVA file (disk image with Android, connects to VirtualBox) and AndroVMPlayer (video accelerator) here .

You can select any of the offered OVA files:

  • vbox86p: Built for a “phone”, 480 × 800 default resolution
  • vbox86t: Built for a “tablet”, 1024 × 600 default resolution
  • vbox86tp: Built for a “tablet” with phone capabilities, 1024 × 600 default resolution
  • gapps: Google play support
  • houdini: ARM support

The next move is to import the downloaded OVA file for VirtualBox. Start Virtualbox from the menu and add the only network:

In the settings window for the imported OVA file on the Network tab, you need to put the Host-only Adapter and vboxnet0:

Start the AndroVM OVA file in VirtualBox and open the androVM settings app. Include Hardware OpenGL, rebut.

Now we will put AndroVMPlayer – for emulation of hardware acceleration (very significant), loaded earlier. The script has a script run.sh in the archive .

He has arguments-permission.

Example:

./run.sh 1024 600 160

Android should earn with the acceleration of OpenGL hardware. Below is a screenshot of the 3D MMO “Arcane Legends” launch on Ubuntu:

Just in case – disabling OpenGL hardware in AndroVM image:

VBoxManage guestproperty set "androVM_vbox86tp_4.1.1_r4-20121106-gapps-houdini" hardware_opengl

Replace the part in quotes with the name of your image.

Have a nice day.
